The Showboat Hotel, located at 801 Boardwalk in Atlantic City, New Jersey, has a rich history dating back to its original opening on March 30, 1987. Initially launched as the Showboat Hotel, Casino, and Bowling Center, it featured a 60,000-square-foot casino and a 60-lane bowling alley, embracing a New Orleans Mardi Gras theme. Over the years, the property underwent several transformations, including the closure of its bowling alley in 2001 and the addition of a 544-room Orleans Tower in 2003. Despite its popularity, the casino ceased operations on August 31, 2014. However, the hotel was revitalized and reopened on July 8, 2016, under the ownership of developer Bart Blatstein, focusing on non-gaming amenities. Today, the Showboat Hotel boasts 872 guest rooms and suites, many with balconies overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the iconic Boardwalk. It has evolved into a family-friendly destination, featuring attractions such as the Lucky Snake Arcade, the largest arcade in New Jersey, and the Island Waterpark, which opened on July 4, 2023, as the world's largest beachfront indoor water park. These developments have solidified the Showboat's commitment to providing diverse entertainment options beyond traditional casino offerings .
