How to Plan a Punta Cana Group Trip from Canada

The one rule that matters most

Book the hotel before the flights.

Almost every Canadian group does this backwards because flights feel urgent and rooms feel abundant. They aren't. Seats on the Toronto and Montreal routes are relatively plentiful; what's scarce is the specific room configurations groups need — connecting rooms, suites that sleep four, swim-up rooms, and enough of them adjacent to each other.

• Publish the total per-person estimate and the payment schedule before you ask for anything.

Multi-city flights

Once the rooms are held, flights become a per-city exercise with one shared constraint: arrival clustering.

Practical rules:

1. Define an arrival window, not an arrival time. "Everyone on the ground between noon and 4 p.m." lets each city pick its own flight and still share one transfer.
2. One reservation per sub-group that wants to sit together. Separate bookings scatter people across the cabin.
3. Don't book the last departure of the day for anyone, and especially not on the day the group's plans start.
4. Ask about group fares if you have ten or more travelling from one city — thresholds and terms vary by carrier, and sometimes a package through a tour operator beats it anyway.
